More Bluefin Encouragement

"Today was better in fish numbers landed than the previous 1.5 day trip," wrote Shogun skipper Bruce Smith July 6, "but it is still tough to get the fish to bite. We are seeing very good sign of bluefin, large schools, jumpers, boilers with fish ranging in size to over 90 pounds. The best way we have found to get a bite is to set up in front of the school, let them come to you and fish the long soak with 30 pound. Of course fluorocarbon, short top shots and ringed hooks come into play, bluefin plunker bites require your A game. The fish are here, they just have to decide they want to bite.

Biggest bluefin today was landed by Jeff Stewart and his fish is over 50 pounds. Also pictured today is Ray Hefferan, Ray will be turning 89 next month, Happy Birthday Ray!"
