Hello Anglers,
Today we could not have asked for better weather, not too hot and no wind at all. The tuna fishing on the Cleofas was scratchy in the morning and at 1100 we went looking for the bigger tuna. We saw a few very nice spots of 130 to 200 pound fish finning on the surface and we stopped twice and the first stop we never saw a boil but the second stop we had a few fish boil up and we hooked one. The fish was hooked by angler David (Rocky) Rocchi on 80 pound line and a Bimini with a Mackerel. After a long fight in the skiff we were bringing a 255 pound Yellowfin over the rail.
The fish was really long and skinny, had it had a fat belly it would have weighed considerably more but none the less it was a beautiful fish. After we stopped seeing the life around we ran back to the bank and anchored on the shallows. We had good action on small yellowfin, Pargo , and Dogtooth Snapper.
We caught them on the iron, sardines and mackerel. Most of the Pargo are 10 pounds with a few bigger. The Snapper are very nice with most of them around 30 40 pounds. Tomorrow we are going try the bank in the morning and then go looking for the big guys tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures.
