Hello Anglers and welcome to another day fishing aboard the Excel.
Today we fished offshore for Wahoo and Dorado, it was a nice change of pace from the anchor fishing that we had done over the last few day's. Once again we had absolutely flat calm weather, which made it easy to locate kelp patty's. We were able to find plenty of kelps holding fish, and the Dorado ranged from 10 to 25 pounds, with most above 15. The Wahoo were in the 30 pound class with a couple up to 60 pounds. You had your choice of fishing for either one, and it worked out really well. On some of the kelps, we would pull up and see dozens of Dorado and a few wahoo charging the boat before we would even come to a stop. The flat weather and clean water made for a visually exciting day, some of the anglers would just sit up in the bow and watch the Dorado chase baits and put on their little aerial shows. The only draw back to today was that we couldn't fish much later than lunch. With good reports of Yellowtail up towards Cedros Isl. we were going to have to get moving. We will let you know how it goes, I will try and give our update about the same time. Mike Pritchard.
