Hello Anglers,
Today was Yellowtail day. We started fishing at 0700 with a steady pick on the Yellows, most of the fish were taken on the yo yo jigs, but they bit the dropper loop and surface iron as well. We had beautiful weather once again for the sixth straight day, not as sunny today, but still pleasantly warm. We fished south of Cedros Isl. most of the day, and some spots at the island as well. Some of the areas were holding Calico bass, and that worked out well for the guy's that wanted to fish with swim baits. But every now and then you would be caught off guard and hook a nice Yellow on the bass gear. A 25 pound Yellow can do mean things to a 9 foot rod and 20 pound test! We were also surprised to see a nice little Halibut come up among the Yellowtail for lucky angler Johnny Brown. So with our goal to find some good Yellowtail fishing complete, we will be heading to Guadalupe Isl. to see if we can put some more Yellowfin on the boat before we have to depart for home. Below is a picture of Haj Shimada and Richard Utter with a Yellowtail taken from Cedros Island. This is Haj's last 8 day charter after 10 successful years with us. He will still be doing his annual 5 day trip in August, but will be retiring from the 8 day. I would personally like to thank Haj for the great trips over the last five years that I have fished with him. Same time same place tomorrow night. Mike Pritchard..
