Hello Anglers,

Well last night when I was typing the update I mentioned that we were going to try to get a night bite and we got lucky enough to get one. Jason Fleck our cook was the only one up when the first wave of fish came through and Jason caught a 125, and a 212 pound yellowfin on flying fish. Finally we had a few passengers get up and start soaking baits. The next bait that went into the water by Pat Gallagher got bit on the sink and he wound up a 192 pound yellowfin which he caught on a squid. For the next hour or so we picked up 9 more fish from 75 to 110 pounds then we got a shot at a couple of big ones. Karl Forster picked up a 208 pound yellowfin, Steve Nelson picked up a 210 pound yellowfin on a flying fish, and Mark Conway got a 195 pounder on a sardine and sinker. When daylight came we picked a couple of 75 pound fish but nothing real big so we reset the anchor in a different area. We sat all day and picked up 14 yellowfin from 70 to 150 pounds and a few wahoo to throw in the mix. The heartbreaking loss of the day was a fish that looked like it was between 230 and 260 that came up after a long battle and was very hot. It came up on the surface on the outside of the circle and started to freak out, jumping out if the water and circling at a fast pace, it finally broke the 200 pound leader right where the line goes through the hook. Unfortunately there was no chaffing spring on the leader otherwise this could of been prevented. Another fish around 150 pounds was released by angler Bruce Posthumus. The weather is playing a role today as it is very choppy and the up and down of the boat makes it harder to land big fish.Hopefully the weather straightens out and we get another shot in the dark. Wish us luck Shawn and the crew
