Mountain lion hoax

The latest photo to go viral and fill up numerous local E-mail in-boxes [including mine] is a frightening-looking gathering of eight mountain lions, supposedly taken somewhere near Oroville, with a motion sensitive night-vision camera. The photo flashed across the country, and I even got authentication inquiries from editors of several outdoors-related publications.

The photo was actually taken late last year by a hunter's trail camera in Douglas County, WA. The Washington Fish and Wildlife Agency confirms the photo itself is real, and that the unusual gathering is possibly an adult female mountain lion with a litter meeting up with one of her adult female offspring that also has a litter.
