Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff
Well, the nippy weather came in with some strong breezes this weekend. Not sure if it's the nippy fall weather or just some isolated nippy weather but it felt pretty darn nippy this morning. There is some lightening of a handful Aspen leaves on the Lake Sabrina road . This bit of cool weather may start everything.
The catching remained good despite the wind. You all should know the scoop by now, but just in case - in the Inlets Salmon Eggs, NightCrawlers, PowerBait and jigs. Those trolling are using flashers and a NightCrawler or just an Olive WoolyBugger, Lures with a bit of red, or just a NightCrawler. Drifting and enjoying the scenery while using PowerBait or a NightCrawler. Or from shore, fishing with Salmon Eggs, PowerBait or NightCrawlers.
The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake on Thursday with another very nice load of fish . The Ladman Family made good on those stockers taking many home for dinner. Sunday morning temperature was a balmy 41 degrees with a slight breeze - wind chill temp - 35 degrees. Highs for Sunday were expected to be in the mid 50s - that was the lows during this past week. We did here of some snow flurries in Mammoth and the Rock Creek area and even at Lake Sabrina Boat Landing. This weeks forecast is for temps to warm back to the mid 60s for highs and the mid 40s for lows.
You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com . Suckers have gone back to the depths of the lake to feed the browns.
All USFS campgrounds are still open. The price this year to camp at the Forest Service campgrounds are $21.00. The only USFS campground that accepts reservations is Four Jeffery. There 31 sites available for reservations: you can book on-line at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. All other campsites at Four Jeffery and the other campgrounds are first come, first served. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake.
Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen. Wash your hands after you applied sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice. Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has gone to summer hours. That means we'll be opening at 7:00am and stay open until 7:00pm. The café is now open daily for breakfast at 7:00am to 11:00am with lunch being served from 11:00am to 4:00pm. We have homemade pie, sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. The Lake Sabrina crew is looking forward to seeing you all this year.
