Lake Sabrina Fishing Report

8-15-2010
Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

The temps in the morning felt a bit cooler (although the thermometer says it was 53), but no nip in the air yet. Fishing this week remained good. Lots of people at the cleaning table Saturday morning before 9:30am. Pretty much the same things are working - PowerBait, NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs and Jigs back at all the inlets. Using flashers and a NightCrawler or the Red/Gold Thomas Buoyant, olive WoolyBuggers or just a swivel (most important when trolling), split-shot and NightCrawlers is what's working on the troll. Drift by the rock piles or over the shoreline between the two natural lakes with a NightCrawlers or PowerBait. Those sitting on shore try NightCrawlers or PowerBait.

Those in the know this week were Ziggy Gonzalez from North Hollywood using his own Proto-type worm to catch a 3-1/2 pound Alper while Dan Lawson from Carson City used a Red & Gold Thomas Buoyant to land a 4-1/2 pound Alper. Anna Brandt of Riverside caught dinner for the family with her limit using NightCrawlers. The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake on Monday with a very nice load of fish. Weather at the Lake continues to be spectacular with the temps in the 80s for the highs and in the low 50s for the lows. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com.

All USFS campgrounds are still open. The price this year to camp at the Forest Service campgrounds are $21.00. The only USFS campground that accepts reservations is Four Jeffery. There 31 sites available for reservations: you can book on-line at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. All other campsites at Four Jeffery and the other campgrounds are first come, first served. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake. Remember to wash your hands after you applied sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice.

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has gone to summer hours. That means we'll be opening at 7:00am and stay open until 7:00pm. The Café is now open daily for Breakfast at 7:00am to 11:00am with Lunch being served from 11:00am to 4:00pm. We have homemade pie, sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. The Lake Sabrina crew is looking forward to seeing you all this year.
