Lake Sabrina Fishing Report

8-1-2010
Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

Lots of fish being cleaned at the cleaning table. And yes, most of those fish are being caught at Lake Sabrina. The hot spots are the Inlets with most anything. Trolling the tried-and-true way of the old-timers with flashers and a worm. You can also troll flies, lures (with a bit of red) or just a worm. PowerBait and Salmon Eggs are working for those sitting in the shade of the quaking leaves of an aspen. The Department of Fish and Game brought us a load of fish on Thursday. We're working on getting a load of Alpers for the lake soon.

It's getting a bit on the warm side up here - we've got highs scheduled in the mid 80s and lows in the low 50s. Haven't heard anything about thunder-showers, but best be prepared and pack some raingear - you never know what the mountains might throw at you. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com

All USFS campgrounds are now open. The price this year to camp at the Forest Service campgrounds are $21.00. The only USFS campground that accepts reservations is Four Jeffery. There 31 sites available for reservations: you can book on-line at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. All other campsites at Four Jeffery and the other campgrounds are first come, first served. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake.

It's nice to have a bit of a breeze as that is all it takes to blow them away. Don't foret the bug juice. Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen. Wash you hands after you applied sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice.

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has gone to summer hours. That means we'll be opening at 7:00am and stay open until 7:00pm. The Café is now open daily for breakfast at 7:00am to 11:00am with Lunch being served from 11:00am to 4:00pm. We have homemade pie, sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa! The Berries and Rhubarb will be in this week from Boring, Oregon, so lots of berry and rhubarb pies will be making their way onto the pie board. The Lake Sabrina crew is looking forward to seeing you all this year.
