Look for weekend temperatures in the mid 50's and 40's in the evenings. Lake level has come up again and is now approximately 12 feet below spill. Water temperatures have remained constant, 52 degrees at 20 feet and 58 at surface. Water clarity is good to 15 feet.
Bank Fishing- Not many anglers along the bank this morning, perhaps the rain on the way scared them off. The cove behind the Marina, Blue Herron Point, and the parking lot bank behind TomSawyerIsland, the Island itself and the Launch Ramp are the most popular spots again this week. Night crawlers, pink power worms and green power bait are the hot baits, with wooly boogers and Kastmasters good right after the plant.
Trolling-----Depths and baits remain unchanged cold water temperatures are keeping the fish in shallow water generally. Trollers are still flat lining, using 3 to 4 colors of lead core or drift fishing the River starting at the Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Some Kokanee continue to turn up in the River arm and near Twin Coves. The colder water upriver is keeping them within 20 feet of the surface, so no need to go deep. Small spoon or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green work well. Kokanee still prefer scented white corn.
Cat Fish----Cats are starting to bite in the coves at the extreme South end of the Lake. Chicken liver and power bait has been working well.
Recent success stories-----William Heinselman of Valley Springs got these feisty kokanee (they look to be in the 10 to 12" range) in Twin Coves using red hoochies and Uncle Larry's beaded spinners. Congratulations-Well done!
California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 32,000 lbs of trout with more plants scheduled for the near future.
