Pardee Reservoir Fish Report

4-30-2010
Fred Dorman

Warming trends, moderate breezes, clear skies and 80 degrees by Sunday, colder temperatures begin after the weekend and slight chance of rain by Wednesday

Look for weekend temperatures in the mid 70's and 80's and 50's in the evenings. Lake level has come up another foot and is now approximately 13 feet below spill. Water temperatures are constant, 50 degrees at 20 feet and 54 at surface. Water clarity is good to 15 feet with.

Bank Fishing- The cove behind the Marina, Blue Herron Point, and the parking lot bank behind TomSawyerIsland, the Island itself and the Launch Ramp are the most popular spots again this week. Not many bank anglers around this morning but I did see one gentleman doing well under the TomSawyerBridge this morning. Night crawlers, pink power worms and green power bait are the hot baits, with wooly boogers and Kastmasters good right after the plant.

Trolling-----Nothing has changed, methods, depths and baits remain unchanged. Trollers are still flat lining, using 3 to 4 colors of lead core or drift fishing the River starting at Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Some small Kokanee are still showing up in the River arm. The cold water is keeping the fish within 20 feet of the surface, so no need to go deep. Small spoon or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green work well.

Recent success stories-----Dennis Burk got this huge German Brown (12.79 lb) last week using a broken back Rapala at 30 feet. Location not disclosed. Congratulations-well done!

California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 30,000 lbs of trout with more plants scheduled for the near future.
