An excellent fishing week for sailfish with the 35' Bertram sportfisher, "Reelaxation" taking the lead with 7 sailfish released for 1 day in the offshore waters. According to Marina & Fleet Manager, Armando Gutierrez, the sailfish bite is in full swing right now and seems to get better with the passing days. Five offshore fishing days reflected a total of 18 sailfish for their efforts and the overall combined catches for 12 days fished reflected 18 sailfish, 5 dorado, 5 yellowfin tuna, 2 wahoo, 1 barracuda, 2 red snapper, 3 triggerfish, 3 grouper and 4 jabon, (a bottom fish).
PM Climate: Mostly cloudy but warm days with temps from 77 nights to 89 dayime highs.
Sea Conditions: Light tropical surface breezes from the SSE at 8 knots made the fishing effort pretty easy for the anglers. Temps varied from 80-81 degrees throughout the area.
Best Bait: The sailfish were eager to bite on the rigged ballyhoo baits, trolled ffrom the outriggers.
