Thomas Hughes from Windsor had the "Luck of the Irish" on Saturday when he first reeled in an 8 lb.12 oz. Rainbow Trout then topped that off with a whopping 11 lb. 13 oz. Rainbow. Thomas used a Needlefish and trolled 25 feet down near the power lines. Here's the best part of this story-he purchased a Collins Lake 50/50 Derby ticket and won the weekly pot worth ($150.00). Congratulations to Thomas for a job well done!!!

Bob Thorne & Paul Falk had good luck trolling Needlefish in the channel, they took home 6 Trout. Jay Sims, Lorrie Sims & Bill Price had a terrific week also using Needlefish. They had two Trout over 6 lbs. & four trout over 4 pounds. Ryan Barella scored a 5 lb. 5 oz. Rainbow that took his worm. Vern Harms topped his stringer with a 7 lb. 8 oz. Trout trolling a Chartreuse Apex lure. Ed Middleton finally limited out using Needlefish for bait. Nicholas & Dave were one shy of two limits (9 fish) near the swimming area trolling Needlefish.

The trout are deeper, when trolling this week you'll want to drop down to around 20 to 25 feet. Trolling Apex, Cripplures, Rapalas, Needlefish, worms & flashers are among the most common methods to use right now. Shore fishermen do well using Powerbait or worms, it looks like Powerbait caught more this week. 3 generations of Griffin's caught a nice limit near the dock. Richard Blevins & Powerbait was the perfect combination along the Open Area shoreline. Carl & Bill Malotte caught 2 limits of Trout tolling between Goose Island to the dam on Powerbait or worms.Ron & Brian of Yuba City landed a 5 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow and 7 others down by the dam on Purple Powerbait.

Brothers Ken Borello & Ernie Borello ended their annual Collins Lake campout with a successful Catfish catch. They got 3 nice ones, their biggest weighed 13 lbs. 6 oz. They used Anchovies for bait. Cindi Moore was trolling for Trout using a Rapala when she caught a 6 lb. 8 oz. Catfish near the dam. This time of year the Cats will take anything so it is not uncommon to catch them while trolling for trout or jigging for Bass.

The Bass were not pursued too much this week so I don't have much to tell you about what is working except we were told by someone with a fish finder the Bass are hanging out around 15' down up towards the bridge.
