Puerto Morelos Fish Report
1-28-2010
Larry Edwards
Seems like the longer 6-8-hour charters were having the opportunity
to land a sailfish and according to Armando Gutierrez, the king
mackerel bite had really taken off for this area. The overall catch
report for 18 days fished reflected 3 sailfish, 46 king mackerel, 9
Atlantic barracuda, 7 red snapper, 23 bonito, 4 triggerfish, 1
grouper, 1 yellowfin tuna and 1 amberjack. Just another typical wide
variety fishing week for this area that continues to produce fun
fishing opportunities for the anglers.
PM Climate: Mostly cloudy days but warm and pleasant with temps from
69 nights to 82 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Light easterly tropical breezes and some surface
wind chop with surface temps holding stable at 79 degrees and good
water clarity.
Best Bait/Lure: Continues to be the rigged and unrigged ballyhoo.
