Mazatlan Fish Report
1-28-2010
Larry Edwards
Very little change from last week, albeit, there was a couple of
billfish in the report this week, a blue marlin, (under 250 lbs.)
taken aboard the "Aries I" and a sailfish, taken aboard the "Aries
III". Like Cabo, the lack of anglers was evident by the lack of
fishing days reflected. Overall counts for a total of 12 days fished
reflected 1 blue marlin 1 sailfish, 7 dorado and 1 yellowfin tuna.
However, the inshore bite did offer constant action on a variety of
fish that included 15 sierra, 38 pargo, 39 mojarres, 49 cochitos, 4
toro and 15 barracuda for 4 inshore fishing days.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with good periods of bright and
warm sunshine, temps from 56 nightts to 85 daytime hihgs.
Sea Conditions: Excellent, clean waters, out to about 40 miles, with
temps stable at 80-81 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: Fish continue to be scattered throughout the area
with no concentration.
Best Bait/Lure: Slow trolled rigged mullet were best for billfish
and dorado.
