The offshore fishing was difficult this past week and dropped off to about a billfish for about every third boat . The overall offshore counts for 16 days fished reflected 4 stripers, 2 sailfish, 5 dorado and 3 yellowfin tuna. However, the inshore action was up and running in good form and producing an excellent smorgasbord variety of critters that included 36 Sierra, 20 barracuda, 18 pargo, 1 corvina, 1 cabrilla, 51 cochitos and 49 mojarres ffor a combined total of seven days fished.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days and cool nights with temps from 53 nights to 81 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Stable temps at 77-78 degrees, very light surface breezes, small swells and good clarity.
Best Fishing Area: There was no specific area that was producing well and the total of the fish were scattered over a wide area.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged mullet were best for the billfish and dorado. Tuna feathers for the Yellowfin, (runing with the porpoise).
