Fish Report for 4-26-2024
Bass anglers did their best during the morning secessions
4-26-2024
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Castaic Lake held near 82 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures ranged between 65 and 68 degrees. Bass anglers did their best during the morning secessions with bass going after green pumpkin and natural shad Senkos. Small swimbaits and finesse baits also took fish in 5 to 20 feet of water. Large and smallmouth held near rocky structure and along bluff walls. The cut bait bite for striped bass remained on the slow side, but shore anglers reported landing line sides while soaking cut sardines on the Carolina rig. Trolled Umbrella rigs took striped bass in 25 to 50 feet of water over main lake points. Catfish anglers used dip bait, cut baits, and garlic scented nightcrawlers to boat whisker fish, and good numbers of rainbows continue to be reported by bass anglers throwing jerkbaits, crankbaits, and weightless Senkos.
