Fly and Field Outfitters
The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Nymphing remains the most consistent method for picking fish up all day. Using tungsten head flies will be beneficial to make sure your flies are getting down to the strike zone quickly. Flashback PT’s, Frenchies, Prince Nymphs and Perdigons are some of our favorites. October caddis are becoming more prevalent and should definitely be in your box. Swinging leeches, sculpin and crayfish streamers can be a fun and effective way to target some more aggressive fish. There are steelhead around now throughout the system and if you encounter a wild fish, please leave them in the water and release them quickly.
Recommended Dries: Elk Hair Caddis 14-18, March brown #12-14, Hackle Stacker PMD #14-18, Parachute PMD #14-18, Hackle Stacker Baetis #16-20, Parachute Baetis #16-20.
Recommended Nymphs: Jimmy Legs #8 Black or Brown, Trout Retriever black or brown #8-10, Jigged Hares Ear #14-16, Jigged Pheasant Tail #14-16, Psycho Prince #14-16, Duracell Jig #14-18, Copper John #14-18
