Our purist approach seeking the big finale on premium grade yellows came up a little short. Far from a total bust, we did scratch up a few handfuls of nice ones, my beloved zone of choice was overrun by trophy cudas sending us in search of elsewhere. And that elsewhere was spectacular as a scenic element and added to the growing variety list. A bounty of miscellaneous coastal species entertained eagerly biting the surface irons and just about any other presentation. The ultimate payoff was a final day in beautiful, calm conditions. A looming rugged forecast enhanced the value of this slice of paradise in ways soon to be revealed…

Photo today features long time Royal Star veteran Dennis Wilson in a moment that perfectly captures the rugged beauty and magic of fishing the Southern Baja coast.
