Pyramid Lake remained at over 90 percent of capacity, and the algae bloom is in effect
7-14-2023
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Pyramid Lake remained at over 90 percent of capacity, and the algae bloom is in effect. Anglers reported boiling striper before 9am, and small flukes, spoons, and topwater all fooled the line sides. The striped bass are “puddling” on micro-silversides, and anglers reported that smaller presentations worked the best. Large and smallmouth took Whopper Ploppers, poppers, and walking baits early in the day. Deep diving crankbaits have also been a solid option. Finesse baits worked for a few bites near Chumash Island, Brazos, and Glory Hole. Anglers reported shad colors and Green Pumpkin as solid options. Catfish readily ate dip bait and chicken liver in deeper coves around the lake.
