Fish Report for 7-14-2023
The lake remained near maximum capacity, and fishing has been fair
7-14-2023
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake remained near maximum capacity, and fishing has been fair. Bass anglers reported using finesse baits to fool decent numbers of smaller grade bass. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and Carolina rigs with smaller 3 and 4” baits worked the best. Baitfish, green pumpkin, and brown colors produced well. Bass anglers also reported an emerging topwater bite in Hawks Nest Necktie, and Alligator Coves. Striper anglers used cut sardines and lugworms for decent numbers of 1 and 2 pound fish. The Forebay buoy line and the entrance to Elizabeth have been good places to soak bait. A few anglers reported better sized striper while trolling flies on lead core line 20 to 30 feet deep. Catfish anglers did well along the dam and in the coves east of the marina. Dip bait, cut sardines, and chicken liver all fooled fish.
