Crane Prairie has been a bit hit and miss
7-14-2023
Fly and Field Outfitters
Crane Prairie has been a bit hit and miss. Some anglers are reporting fair to good days while others are reporting slow days. Some of the lake is a bit off color due to an algae bloom and its best to focus your efforts in the channels where the water is a bit deeper and cooler. Callibaetis have begun to show up but damsels remain the stronger hatch. As far as flies go blanched leeches in olive and black, jigged leeches, damsels, bloodworms and chironomids have all been working. Stripping around a damsel nymph is a good way to cover some water and find some willing fish.
