The lake fell to 94 percent of capacity and water conditions continue to improve. The word is out that bass and striper are on the chew at Castaic. Be prepared for a 45-minute wait on weekends. Large and smallmouth took Senkos, C3 baits, and 4” curly tail worms in Green Pumpkin, Ox Blood, and Shad early in the week. Fish held from shore out to 25 feet deep. Jerkbaits and crankbaits worked after the winds picked up mid-day. Numerous anglers reported 20+ fish days. Striper anglers clobbered smaller grade jailbirds on cut sardines, white swimbaits, and trolled umbrella rigs. Some better grade zebras were reported by anglers flycoring. Catfish anglers did well along the dam with dip bait, chicken liver, and nightcrawlers.
