3-26-2023
Arizona Game & Fish Department

Access to the creek is open. Check the regulations before heading out, as there has been a change in regulations to Oak Creek. Starting January 1, 2023, the catch-and-release section on Oak Creek has been expanded to include Oak Creek from the Highway 89A bridge at Slide Rock State Park upstream to the Sterling Springs Fish Hatchery property boundary, including the West Fork Oak Creek. This section will be catch and release only for trout, artificial fly and lure only, barbless hooks only. Pine Flat and Cave Springs campgrounds are closed. Oak Creek at  Sedona saw a spike in stream flow this week at 12,400 cubic feet per second (cfs) on 3/22/2023. Oak Creek at Sedona stream flow has since dropped to 7,960 cubic feet per seconds (cfs) on 3/22/2023, but there was still some flooding. Average base flow is about 29-31 cfs. The streamflow of Oak Creek is fluctuating daily due to rain and runoff from the melting snow. As a result, Oak Creek may be running turbid (dirty). Fishing under these conditions can be challenging.
