Fish Report for 7-22-2022
Large and smallmouth have been chasing topwater
7-22-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake remained near full pool, and water temperatures have been in the upper seventies. Fishing has been good and mid-week anglers often found the lake pleasantly quiet. Large and smallmouth have been chasing topwater and crankbaits early in the day and biting Senkos and drop shot mid-day. Some of the best colors have been Green Pumpkin, Ox Blood, and Natural Shad. Striper anglers have been hitting the lake as early as possible to get a shot at some topwater action. After that it has been all about soaking cut baits in 35 to 75 feet of water. Striper angers also fooled fish while trolling flies or umbrella rigs. Catfish anglers reported excellent fishing near Yellowbar on chicken liver.
