Cabo San Lucas Fish Report- The Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet and Fish Cabo Fleet
9-18-2009
Larry Edwards
While the billfish catches are not quite up to par and reflecting
about a 33% catch rate, the dorado action continues to be in good
shape and provides a couple of quality fish per fishing day. Also,
the yellowfin tuna bite is picking up some steam and the Fish Cabo
Fleet reported a 195 lb. yellowfin taken this week, which would
probably bode very well for the upcoming Tuna Tournament. Overall
fish counts for 30 days fished reflected 13 stripers, 1 wahoo, 36
yellowfin tuna and 65 dorado.
Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 76 nights to 94
daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Very good water temps throughout the area and
ranging from 85 on the Golden Gate Bank and gradually climbing to 88
degrees at the Gorada Banks.
Best Fishing Area: Continues to be on the Pacific side in the Golden
Gate Bank area.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait continues to be most productive for the
billfish, dorado and larger tuna.
Live Bait Supply: Mostly caballitos at the regular $3.00 per bait
charge.
