The Fly Shop
The river flows have been on a sort of roller coaster the past couple of weeks, the clarity as well. We are seeing things on the drop now on the gage at Delta and the river above Sims will probably worth a look. It will be higher, so find spots if your normal hole is difficult to fish. Try your sculpin patterns near the bottom. At this point in the season the insects that will be hatching will be Blue Wing Olives and midges, Sweet Peas, Zebra Midges, S&Ms will continue to be the best producers for those dead drifting or high sticking nymphs. As always during this time of year, Interstate 5 will become messy and can close when the storms get going, so plan your trip accordingly and keep an eye on the Caltrans site for road conditions.
