Fish Report for 12-31-2021
Anglers braved cold weather and rain for some decent fishing
12-31-2021
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake remained near 90 percent of capacity, and anglers braved cold weather and rain for some decent fishing. Trout and striper were the best bet last week with a few lucky anglers reporting full stringers of both. Trout anglers cleaned up thick schools of fish in the marina using dough baits, Mousetails, minijigs, and lures, and rumor has it that more trout are on the way. Striper anglers used cut sardines, anchovies, and bloodworms for limit style bait fishing with the marina being the striper hot spot lately. Biting striper were reported at Yellowbar, Serrano, and near the dam as well. Striper anglers also reported good action while pulling umbrella rigs and working vertical spoons above thick schools of striper. Bass anglers used finesse techniques in deeper water for bites, and deep diving crankbait continued to fool the bigger fish. Catfish anglers used cut sardines, chicken liver, and dip bait for some good-sized catches.
