Andy Cates docked Red Rooster III at H&M landing September 8 after a four-day trip with 30 anglers. He said fishing was good for small fish on the inside and tougher for bigger fish outside in rough weather.
Benny Hourani of Bonita won first place for a 50.5-pound bluefin tuna that opted for his chrome Salas 6X Jr. jig on 40-pound Big Game line. He said he fished with an Accurate 4/0 conversion on a Calstar 6470 rod.
Karl Young of Corona won second place for a 42-pounder, and Al Babishoff of Montebello won third place for a 40.6-pound bluefin tuna.
