Mazatlan Fish Report- The Aries Sportfishing Fleet
8-27-2009
Larry Edwards
The dorado action at the buoys is still providing some good action,
but it is not in the high numbers of a couple of weeks ago. Still,
the average is 9 dorado per super panga fishing day and that does
make for some fun fishing. The overall catches for 6 super panga
days reflected 53 dorado and 1 sailfish. The offshore fishing is
offering a good chance for sailfish and reflected about a 60% chance
to land a sail, with a few dorado and yellowfin tuna in the mix.
Overall offshore counts for 12 days fished reflected 7 sailfish, 7
dorado and 11 yellowfin tuna, (to 85 lbs.). According to Geronimo
Cevallos, they had a couple of the bigger black marlin hooked up this
past week, but none were landed.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 76 nights to 93
daytime highs and humid.
Sea Conditions: Excellent! Mostly calm with light surface breezes
and temps stable at 86-87 degrees
Best Fishing Area: The shark buoys for the dorado and out to the
southwest, 23-30 miles for the sailfish and tuna.
Best Bait/Lures: Live bait best for the dorado. Sailfish on the
rigged trolling baits, (mullet).
