The Fall River fished well last week

The Fall River fished well last week. This week might be even better due to the unseasonably warm temperatures in the forecast. We’ve been hearing some good reports about the blue wing olive hatch. It’s been popping off right around midday and the fish have been rising a fair bit. There hasn’t been much else hatching besides a few caddis every now and then. Under the surface, the fish are eating midges and baetis. In the mornings, a slim baetis nymph pattern can be unstoppable. Pait that with a size 22 two-bit, tailwater tiny, or midge and you’ll be golden. If small flies aren’t getting much attention, size things up with a jigged leach, streamer pattern, or a worm. Usually this time of year there is a foot of snow out at the Fall, hopefully, we start building our snowpack soon. In the meantime, enjoy the easy access out on the Fall River.
