Chad Burton and Chris Borden
This year’s annual Taft Chamber of Commerce Trout Derby is going to be on November 20th. Fishing has been fair at BV with crappie and bass offering the best action. Crappie anglers reported limits after locating a school of biting fish. The trick has been locating the school. The crappie have been holding near submerged brush and near rocky structure. Local anglers who know where to cast their baits did well using getbentbaits661, and Trout On Baits. The crappie also went for small live minnows. Bass anglers reported catching bass near the cattails using spinnerbaits, small swimbaits, and finesse baits. Senkos, drop shot, and splitshot rigs all worked for bites near structure. Catfish anglers reported fair action using dip bait, chicken liver, and cut sardines.
