The action on East Lake has been decent. The water is still warm up there; we don’t recommend fishing shallower than 10 feet deep. Make sure you’re able to get accurate water temperature readings so that you know when the water is too warm for catch and release. Terrestrials and callibaetis are your best bets for dry flies. Fish these in the early morning or late evening to improve your chances of getting a bite. Balanced leeches, chironomids and callibaetis are great choices. Damsels are also great; however, they work best in shallower waters that are too warm right now. Getting deep with an olive balanced leech is optimal. It’s best to fish during morning and evening, for the health of the fish and for your chances of success. Average and below average temperatures are in the forecast. Let’s hope that this prediction comes true and maybe some surprise rain will give us a visit as well.
