Jess Ranch Lake Fish Report

Jess Ranch Lakes Staff

Anglers enjoyed cool mild weather all week and good trout action for those who worked their tackle and baits. Power Bait ( especially spring green, salmon peach, garlic and orange) night crawlers, jigs and lures all caught fish. Best bite was before 10am with an afternoon kick after 1pm and most trout were near or over 2 pounds. Hot spots included the western shore from the pump house to the bridge of lake 3 as well as the western and northern shores of lake 2.

Catfish are biting Power Bait ( anglers going for trout), night crawlers, shrimp and mackerel with fish up to 3 pounds. Hot spots included the eastern shore of lake 3 and the south eastern shore of lake 2 near the wall. Bass and Bluegill bite has eased off with the colder temperatures but anglers report some fish being caught near the wall of lake 2 and the northern shore of lake 3 near the pump house.

#3 Cerritos anglers, David Stauffer, his son Zach and a friend, fished Jess Ranch Lakes and caught their limits of catfish from the south eastern shore of lake 2 using night crawlers and mackerel. The lakes are stocking 1000 pounds of catfish every Thursday through September along with their regular weekly stocking of trout.
