It’s an amazing time to be at the Metolius. Hatches are heating up. Expect to see lots of little yellow mayflies. They are slightly different than pale morning duns, but using PMD patterns will work fine. March browns should also be coming off the water and there is always a small chance of seeing an early green drake hatch . The blue winged olive hatches are starting to phase out, but you can still expect to see them on cooler days. The caddis hatches are super diverse, but most are around size 18-14 and grey or tan. There are still some larger orange caddis ranging from size 8-12. Nymphing with golden stones has been awesome. Caddis pupa, green drake nymphs and other various mayfly nymphs will also be killer. Bull trout fishing is decent, some days are better than others. The plants are greening up and the fish are ready to eat.
