LAKE REMAINS AT CAPACITY-WEATHER AND WATER CONDITIONS IDEAL FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

Another extended forecast of clear skies, gentle breezes and temperatures in the low to mid 80's for the weekend and beyond. Water temperatures are constant, 65 degrees at surface and 58 degrees at the 20 foot mark. The water visibility is good to 18 feet. The water continues to be at or over the spillway.

BANK FISHING ---- Shore anglers continue to do well, the Trout still choose to hang out in the Recreation Area well after the plant. The hot spots are Tom Sawyer Island Bridge, the Launch Ramp, Jackson Creek Spillway, Stony Point Landing and the bank behind the EBMUD boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups are widely used, however silver/blue Kastmasters and black woolly buggers are also very successful right after a plant. White power eggs, maggots and power worms are the best sellers at the Marina, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular.

TROLLERS----Pardee Lake hosted another successful Kokanee Derby sponsored by Project Kokanee (check their website for detailed results) last weekend. Lots of Kokanee caught, most in the 8 to 12 inch range by Trollers working the River Mouth, the face of the Dam, up river as far as Columbia and a few running the barrel line in the South End. Trout are now at 20 to 30 feet and Kokanee are deeper still at 40 to 60 feet. I think every imaginable lure was tried last weekend but as of late the most popular equipment and bait used by the regulars has been orange hoochies, bugs, sling blades or flashers tipped with a partial night crawler or scented corn, small spoons or spinners, Uncle Larry's copper popper, pinkie or tiger behind a smaller Sep's silver, watermelon or silver/green dodger.

UP COMING EVENTS---- The annual Kids Tank Derby will be held Saturday June 6th 8AM to 12 PM at the tanks in the main parking lot. No state license or fishing permit required for Kids 2 to 15 years of age. All fishing equipment provided-lots of prizes and a hot dog lunch provided afterward for $3.00. No charge to participate in the derby; however, there is an $8.00 day use pass require to get into the park.

CATFISH----Catfish are biting in most coves on the eastern side of the Lake. Stinky chicken livers-irresistible.

RECENT SUCCESS STORIES---There were also several Bass tournaments held here over the weekend, details were sketchy but here are a couple of photos from those events. Ryan Habenicht shows of a nice largemouth and a 4.6 lb smallie. Jeff Garmeson landed this fat 8.9 lb Largemouth. Congratulations to all-well done!

To date 51,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with another plant scheduled for the near future.
