SOME OVERCAST AND RAIN FORECAST FOR THE WEEKEND CLEARING BY EARLY NEXT WEEK

The forecast calls for overcast and some rain starting today. The pattern lately has been showers and rain during the weekend and clearing skies and mild temperatures during the week. Water temperatures have warmed a bit since last week, 63 degrees at surface and 57 degrees again at the 20 foot mark. The water visibility is good to 12 feet and may degrease with the runoff associated with the storm moving through. The water level appears to be unchanged since last report; the level is approximately 12 to 14 feet below spill and stable.

BANK FISHING ---- Shore anglers continue to do well right after the plant and beyond. The hot spots are well established and haven't changed again this report, Tom Sawyer Island (particularly under the foot bridge), the Launch Ramp, Rainbow Point and the bank behind the EBMUD boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups are widely used, however silver/blue Kastmasters and black woolly buggers are also very successful right after a plant. White power eggs, maggots and power worms are the best sellers at the Marina, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular.

TROLLERS----Reports indicate trolling improved during the week. Boats were picking up fish at the River Mouth, the face of the Dam and along the barrel line in the South end. Limits are mixed. Trout are still shallow at 5 to 25 feet but drop it down to 40 feet for the Kokanee. The Kokanee have been in the 8" to 11" range with a few in the 15-16 inch range. Equipment and bait the same, orange hoochies, sling blades or flashers tipped with a partial night crawler, Uncle Larry's copper popper, pinkie or tiger behind a smaller Sep's silver/green dodger. Most are working the between the River mouth and the face of the Dam.

BASS- No news at the Marina about the Bass bite this report. Try crawdad jigs and plastic worms along the eastern shore at rocky outcroppings.

RECENT SUCCESS STORIES---Donna Figuera of Fremont got another great German Brown, this one weighed in at 5 lbs. Donna bagged this one with a flasher and night crawler in the Main body of the Lake. Fred McAlister and Joe Garcia worked the mouth of the River for these Kokanee that ranged in size from 8 to 15.5 inches. Sling blades and hoochies were the weapons of choice and 40 foot the depth. Congratulations to all-well done!

To date 47,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with another plant of 2,000 in progress as this report is being written.
