Mazatlan Fish Report- The Aries Sportfishing Fleet
4-23-2009
Larry Edwards
Extraordinarily slow for anglers this past week with only 3 offshore
charter fishing days. However, they did land 4 stripers, 1 dorado
and 1 mako shark for their efforts, reflecting that the bite is
starting to improve throughout the area. The inshore action
continues to be very good and with a wide variety of critters, but
again, slow on anglers. The super pangas, reporting for five fishing
days reflected 15 dorado, 22 cabrilla, 4 conejos, limits of pargo, 7
vaquetas and 25 loras.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days; temps from 57 nights
to 88 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Mostly calm with very light surface winds and temps
from 71 inshore, rising to 74-75 offshore.
Best Fishing Area: The billfish were taken in the 22-25 mile area to
the southwest of the Marina El Cid.
Best Lure/Bait: Slow trolled rigged mullet were the answer for the
billfish in the offshore waters. Strip baits and shrimp good for the
inshore bottom fishing.
