Stop by the Marina and tell us about your fish!

BASS
The Bass have moved up tight, but have not been inclined to bite as much as anglers would like. There have been plenty of catches between 2-3 pounds for largemouth and smallmouth alike with a few double digit reports this week. Senkos, drop shot rigged purple plastics, and Carolina rigged brush hogs have worked well. Most bass have been caught within 10 feet of water on the points or along the dams. Shallow water fishing requires light line and flawless presentation to entice the bass. Bo McNeely of Upland caught a 7.6 pound bass fishing with a jig in one foot of water. Gary Anderson of Bloomington caught a 10.81 pound bass fishing with a plastic shad on the east dam.

TROUT
Trout fishing slowed a bit this week, but there were still some notable catches. Nightcrawlers, mini jigs, and trout worms were the most reported baits. Shore anglers seemed to do better than the boaters. The trout were caught in as little as 3 feet of water so light line is a must. James Arney of Murrieta caught a 9 pound trout fishing with chartreuse Powerbait near the marina. Kyle Tiedeman of Murrieta caught a 6.7 pound rainbow fishing with chartreuse Powerbait near the Marina.

STRIPER
Striper fishing was slow this week. Stripers are always on the move, but the most consistent spots have been the inlet tower or the east dam. Anglers have caught striper on swimbaits, either trolling as deep as 50 feet, or throwing into boils. Eddie "Fish Taco" Martinez of Fontana caught 3 stripers at 6,7,and 9 pounds fishing with a Fish Taco lure along the east dam.

CATFISH
The water is still too cold for a great cat bite, but there has been some big fish caught over the past few months. Mackerel, anchovies and shrimp have been the typical baits.

PANFISH
Panfish have been gradually moving into the shallows so the hot bite is just around the corner. Steven Williams of Glendora caught a 2.66 pound crappie fishing with a jig . Robert Gutierrez of Riverside caught a 2.7 pound crappie fishing with a jig.
