A few more details to share today to prepare Royal Star anglers for their upcoming voyages. I will post our actual re-opening plan for anglers to review as well. In addition Tracy gave me a few tips today on the majority of the questions that she is fielding. Regarding the use of facial coverings I recommend the AFTCO sun shields, or similar “gators” that provide dual protection and are specifically designed for anglers. They are very effective. I have been using them for years to minimize sun exposure and find them comfortable. Please make certain to use facial coverings on days of departure and arrival. We will brief anglers on our policy once we clear the harbor.
On that note for the time being our orientation meetings in the galley at the beginning of each voyage will be delivered over the PA system, as will the final trip recap. While I am very disappointed about the lack of a Captain’s personal interaction while delivering this important information, the PA will allow anglers to receive the address in the galley, anywhere on deck, or in the companionways below. We will make a professional effort during voyages to establish individual contact with every Royal Star angler. Both Captain’s and crew will be accessible at all times. A lot more one on one will be the theme for the time being.
As for bedding all comforters, sheets, and pillow cases will be professionally laundered between each voyage. That said if anglers prefer to bring their own bedding they are welcome to do so. All staterooms and belowdeck areas will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between each voyage.
Last for today is mention of the new galley/meal service routine that will feature longer serving times as opposed to single calls that accommodate up to 20 anglers at one time. Meal service will be spread out over the course of one to two hours so anglers can enjoy their time at a table hosting one to three anglers at a time. I mentioned it before but to recap there will be no common utensils, or common serving platters used during snack times. Chef’s Cameron, Nestor, and Alex will prepare and hand serve individual portions of whatever fare is on the docket.
I will post the actual re-opening plan tomorrow that is well condensed and to the point. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to call. Lastly the onboard routine that Royal Star veterans have become accustomed to over the years will be significantly different but absolutely will not inconvenience any of our anglers. They are simple, common sense based implementations of CDC guidelines that put the safety of everyone on board first. Enjoy the photo of Royal Star friend Fausto Gutierrez from the archive.
