Jess Ranch Lakes Fish Report

Jess Ranch Lakes Staff

Well we're finally back into our winter weather pattern which brought light rain and afternoon light to moderate breezes. The drastic change in weather improved the trout action on both lakes this week with anglers reporting good to excellent action. Power Bait ( especially Salmon Peach, Rainbow, Chartreuse), Jigs and lures all caught limits and over 3 pound trout. Most trout were near or over 2 pounds. Hot spots included the eastern logged shore to the pump house and the western shore near the bridge of lake 3 as well as the eastern, northern and southern shores of lake 2.

Catches of the Week: Yucaipa angler, Johnny Perez, scored a 7 lbs 3 ozs male trout on an orange power worm near the wall on lake 2. Ken Shaw of Pasadena caught 4 lbs 12 ozs and 3 lbs 8 ozs rainbows near the bridge on the the northern shore of lake 2 using a power egg/power worm ( Power Mouse) combo. Roy Favela of Fontana reeled in 5 lbs 7 ozs and 3 lbs 9 ozs trout using rainbow Power Bait to limit near the inlets of lake 2. Bloomington angler, Leon Simkiss scored 5 lbs 5 ozs and 4 lbs 13 ozs rainbows using a orange and sherbert Power Bait while fishing the logged eastern shore of lake 3 and the northern shore of lake 2. Jason Ocull caught a 4 lbs 12 ozs rainbow using salmon peach Power Bait on the logged eastern shore of lake 3. John Osika of Ontario used salmon peach Power Bait to catch his 5 lbs 3 ozs rainbow from the northern shore of lake 2 near the bridge.

The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round. This year the Lakes' hatchery is amping up the weekly trout stockings with bigger fish overall. Hours: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays--7am to 4pm. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.
