Cabo San Lucas Fish Report- The Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet and Fish Cabo Fleet

There aren't many places in the world that an angler can go on the day before Christmas and land 10 Pacific striped marlin and round-out the catch with a couple dorado for dinner. Probably only in Cabo San Lucas is that likely. That was the score for the "Tuna Time" , fishing the Golden Gate Bank, yesterday. Overall, the combined totals for 36 fishing days reflected a near 3-fish average for the billfish, reporting 98 stripers, (97 released) 1 yellowfin tuna and 36 dorado.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days, temps from 61 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Overall, very good conditions on both sides of the peninsula with temps holding at 76 at the Golden Gate and slowly rising to 78 at the Gorda Banks.

Best Fishing Area: Remains excellent at the Golden Gate Bank and will probably continue in that mode as long as the schools of mackerel remain.

Best Bait/Lure: Most all of the billfish and dorado are being taken on live bait with mackerel being best, either drifting with deep live bait, slow trolling live bait and of course, casting to the feeders.

Live bait supply: Remains very good with caballitos, but the mackerel caught at the Golden Gate Bank are hottest.
