Puerto Morelos Fish Reports- Marina El Cid, Cancun & Cozumel Areas
12-18-2008
Larry Edwards
The fleet manager, Armando Gutierrez, reported an upswing in the
fishing from the Marina El Cid at Puerto Morelos, that reflected the
unusual catch of 3 sailfish, (normally seen mostly in May) 4 Atlantic
barracuda, 2 Spanish mackerel, 9 amberjack, 1 bonito and 25 king
mackerel for a total of 11 fishing days. Armando reports that most
of the fishing right now is within a couple of miles of the Marina
entrance and the fish continue to bite best on the rigged ballyhoo
baits.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days, but very good weather overall, with
temps from 66 nights to 86 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: A very good week with light tropical surface breezes
from the Easterly directions and sea temps at 79-80 throughout the area.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged ballyhoo continues to rule in this area of
Mexico.
