Quality problem

Well we fought, kicked, and scratched our way along accumulating beautiful grade wahoo in the process. No big numbers to assign the day in a league of champions but every individual fortunate enough to bag one of those beauties certainly scored the triumph they sought. As did we.

Decisions, decisions. It isn’t often at this time of the season that we find ourselves hand wringing about possibilities five hundred miles up the line. Those possibilities at present are admittedly darn compelling. Local fishing is still stratospheric. Bluefin and premium grade yellowfin offshore. The trade off of course is no wahoo, no dorado, no exotics. Peter or Paul? This is what we call having a quality problem. The answer obviously depends on the bird in hand, and the anglers on board.

Satisfied with our call we now roll north freighting a bounty of premium grade wahoo and “filler” exotics in perfect condition chilling below. The most beautiful weather one can imagine graces the run. Flat calm, serene; exactly as we prefer. Coastal species are on the docket tomorrow as we hopscotch our way north breaking up the ride with ample fishing time. Photo today features top tier angler and long time Royal Star veteran Mike Reardon with this dandy wahoo picked off mid afternoon on the bomb.
