Two good rounds today on beautiful quality yellowtail including some bona fide standouts in the 45 - 52 pound range. A grand surface show complimented the action in flat calm conditions that further exposed our stunningly spectacular surroundings. In my many years of plying the ocean from Alaska to Panama I can honestly say that I have never fished in a more breathtakingly beautiful location. It’s a rugged, terrifying kind of beauty - no bleach white sand beaches and palm fronds, but one that stops an astute observer in their tracks every glance.
Our phones and cameras are filled with images from here that one is compelled by the sheer beauty to take, over and over again. None of them do it justice. It is too august, too grand in scale to capture whole. One visit to this area etches the setting indelible in the mind though; all the more reason to come on down with us this or next season and see for yourself…
Closing out the day down the island on a softer note nothing was had or seen in the way of fishing to report. And it was more than ok. Very good fortune in both fishing and weather has followed us on this run since we left the dock. Beyond pleased with these results we departed for home sated and satisfied ready for a beckoning, flat calm ride across. Ahhhh…..
Photos today feature Fishin’ Lumberjack veteran’s and stars Scott Gray and Sharon Kramer with a couple fine examples of the average grade yellowtail landed.
