Fall Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: With some much needed rain the Trout action was steady for both bait dunkers and hardware chuckers over the long weekend. With the additional 1,200 lbs from Jess Ranch stocked for your angling pleasure, the trout inventory is in your favor!! These Jess Ranch trout are outstanding in quality, taste, plus an attitude for the fight.

!!!! WINTER HOURS STARTING DECEMBER 1, 2008-JANUARY 31, 2009 !!!!
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8AM-4PM Saturday 6AM-4:30PM.
SUNDAY 12 noon- 4:30PM !! Wednesday LAKE is CLOSED !!

Trout Bait: 16-20" inch leader, night crawler smeared with scent fished below a bobber, or Rainbow Power Bait fished off the bottom. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)

Best Trout Lures: Orange Rapala, Yellow Roster Tail, Gold Panther Martin. Use scent (Krill gel works best)

Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Shore line below call box, Chambers Park, Trolling entire lake.

Notable: Andrew Romero (age 7), Escondido, 4lbs Rainbow, Power bait, North Finger Jetty. Dale Zarczynski, San Diego, 3lbs 15oz Rainbow, Power Bait, Dam West shore. Tony Parker, Chula Vista, 3lbs 8oz Rainbow, Power bait, T-Dock. John Kramer, San Diego, 3lbs 8oz Rainbow, Power bait/ crawler combo, Boat launch area. Brian Hale, Lakeside, 2lbs Rainbow, Power bait, Island.

Fly Fishing: Try a Matuka or a Wolly Bugger worked slow on the fall.

Nature Walk: The self guided walk is 3 1/2 miles around the lake. The trail is open for daily use.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true Trout tactics, along with Crappie and Catfish.

Prognosis:!! The warm clear weather this week combined with last weeks stocking will improve the bite. Fishing bait should continue to produce some fine stringers, while trolling with Roster Tails, Panther Martins and Rapalas providing steady action! Water temperature is 48 degrees. Please Note *WINTER HOURS*

THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS NOW OPERATIONAL PRIVATE VESSELS ALLOWED AFTER WASH DOWN! A fee is charged. (boats, motors, float tubs, waders) More details under boat wash down.
