We expanded the bluefin zone today locating another area of fish 80 miles below the “local zone”. Incredible. Spot after spot was visible for miles indicating again that this 2019 Bluefin season is just getting started. The school size, 25-40 pound fish represented the majority of what we found but there were plenty of bigger fish seen.
Now the not so good news. Once again the millions of fish we encountered were reluctant to bite. In fact about 99.9999 percent didn’t bite at all content to lay under the boat and snub their noses at us. Fortunately we did get some shots. But nothing like we were looking for. I can say for certain that these bastards are going to pay a dear price when they drop their guard.
No photos from today as the hot and heavy, abbreviated action did not lend itself to artistic pursuits. The photo I am sharing from a couple of weeks past well represents the grade of fish we landed today, and is admittedly self indulgent. My son Duke Ekstrom is the featured angler with a nice one landed on the light gear.
If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
