THE PUERTO MORELOS SPORTFISHING FLEET - MARINA EL CID, CANCUN-COZUMEL AREA
9-11-2008
Larry Edwards
Now that Hurricane Ike is passing by, Puerto Morelos has dodged the
bullet on 9 big storms this season and according to GM Armando
Gutierrez, that suits him just fine. While they did catch some rain
from Ike, for the most part, it's been an uneventful summer fishing
season and only another month or so to go. The fishing was down a
little this week and for the most part, the catches reflected king
mackerel and giant barracudas, (11 giant barracuda, 10 king mackerel
and 1 mutton snapper for 7 days fished).
Puerto Morelos Climate: Warm & humid, mostly cloudy, temps 78-79 and a bit rainy with an occasional thunderstorm.
Sea Conditions: Temps at 85-86 throughout the area, some windy conditions at 15-25 knots and heavy wind chop from time to time.
Best Bait/Lure: All fish taken on rigged ballyhoo.
