THE IXTAPA ZIHUATANEJO FISH REPORT - THE INDEPENDENT SPORTFISHING FLEET

9-4-2008
Larry Edwards

According to Temo Verboonen, skipper of the Secuestro De Amor, and our on-the-spot representative, only a few boats fished this past week, but the report was good for those that went, reflecting good dorado catches and a few sailfish in the mix. The clean water is 10- plus miles offshore. The inshore bite, when accessible, has been very good for groupers, big eye jacks, rainbow runners and smaller yellowfin tuna. Roosterfish are there but the big wave action has prevented the boats from getting close enough to make good catches there.

I/Z Climate: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, almost daily, especially in the PM and nights, temps from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs and humid.

Sea Conditions: The offshore waters are very fishable and some good action along the current breaks at the edge of the river/rain runoff, with temps in the 82-83 degree range.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits for the sailfish and dorado.
