Worked our way down in beautiful afternoon weather spot checking kelps as we covered ground. Improved water conditions and some real deal, “boat stopper” size kelps infused some well needed action into the otherwise languid afternoon. Several wake up calls roused anglers from their torpor when the flat calm sea erupted into mayhem at the hands (fins) of a few wahoo and one school of good size dorado. It was a great way to break up the ride; exactly what we were looking for. Of course while a few are good a lot would have been better. We’re not complaining though. Bonus catching on what was otherwise a travel day is accepted with gratitude.

Tomorrow will be the true test as we enter the arena ready to go. Photo today features the most humble living legend I know Royal Star veteran Tom Honaker. A giant among men, and a damn fine fisherman too, Tom snared this beautiful wahoo today during our best stop on the kelp in the background. Though the wahoo Tom picked off yesterday outweighed this little fella by about thirty pounds young and tender is just as well at the dinner table. We’ll take it.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
